KILIMANJARO - JULY

Trip Purpose:

This trip is the second opportunity in 2025 to join the 15th Annual Kilimanjaro Clean Water Climb, focusing on raising funds for Child Legacy’s clean water projects in Malawi. Participants (20 max) will trek Mt. Kilimanjaro’s Shira Route and visit Child Legacy’s sustainability project and water well repairs in Malawi.

Itinerary:

• July 9-11: Depart from Houston (IAH) to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO). (IAH>IST>DAR>JRO). Afternoon Safari in Arusha National Park. Overnight at Hatari Lodge.

• July 12: Acclimatization hike on Mt. Meru in Arusha National Park to Miriakamba Huts (8,050’).

• July 13-18: Trek the 6-day Shira Route to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,341’). The Shira Route is the same as Lemosho, except for skipping the first two days of Lemosho

• July 19: Fly from Kilimanjaro (JRO) to Lilongwe (LLW), Malawi (JRO>NBO>LLW). Arrive Child Legacy International. CLI Sustainability Project Tour.

• July 20-21: Child Legacy Church, Water well repairs and Bible Storying.

• July 22-23: Return to the U.S. via flights from Lilongwe (LLW>IST>IAH).

Cost:

$3,925 per person, excluding airfare. Deposit of $660 due by January 12, 2025.

Optional Add-Ons:

• Participants can choose to skip the Malawi portion (not recommended!) and return home after Kilimanjaro, shortening the trip to 11 days.

• Option to add extra days at Child Legacy for $125 per day.

Significance:

The trip also emphasizes a higher purpose then even the thrill of summitting Kilimanjaro. It combines this trekking adventure with sustainability by supporting Child Legacy’s water well ministry through the Clean Water Climb. Participants will make a tangible impact on Malawi’s clean water access while experiencing the beauty of Africa.
