KILIMANJARO

Trip Purpose:

This trip is part of Child Legacy’s 15th Annual Clean Water Climb, aimed at raising awareness and funds for clean water projects in Malawi. Participants will trek Mt. Kilimanjaro and visit water well projects in Malawi.

Itinerary:

• July 9-11: Depart from Houston (IAH) to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO).(IAH>IST>DAR>JRO)

• July 12: Acclimatization hike at Mt. Meru and Hatari Lodge, followed by a safari in Arusha National Park.

• July 13-18: Climb the 6-day Shira Route to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,341 feet).

• July 19: Fly from Kilimanjaro (JRO) to Malawi (JRO>NBO > LLW).

• July 20-21: Participate in the Malawi Purpose Tour, visiting Child Legacy’s water well projects, Malawi churches, and Bible storytelling.

• July 22-23: Return to the U.S. via flights from Lilongwe (LLW>IST>IAH).

Cost:

$3,925 per person, excluding airfare. Deposit of $660 due by January 12, 2025.

Optional Add-Ons:

• Participants can choose to skip the Malawi portion and return home after Kilimanjaro, shortening the trip to 11 days.

• Option to add extra days at Child Legacy for $125 per day.

Significance:

This trip emphasizes a combination of adventure and purpose, with participants supporting Child Legacy’s clean water initiatives while climbing Kilimanjaro. The Shira Route offers a scenic and less crowded ascent, ideal for those seeking a challenge.
