Trip Purpose:

This trip is part of Child Legacy’s 15th Annual Clean Water Climb, aimed at raising awareness and funds for clean water projects in Malawi. Participants will trek Mt. Kilimanjaro and visit water well projects in Malawi.

Itinerary:

  • June 22-24: Depart from Houston (IAH) to Kilimanjaro Airport via Istanbul (IST) and Dar es Salaam (DAR).

  • June 24-26: Acclimatize through a safari in Tarangire National Park.

  • June 27 - July 4: Climb the 8-day Lemosho Route to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,341 feet). This route is known for its scenic beauty and gradual ascent, passing through diverse ecosystems.

  • July 5: Fly from Kilimanjaro (JRO) to Malawi.

  • July 6-7: Malawi Purpose Tour – Visit Child Legacy’s water well repair sites, Malawi churches, and participate in Bible storytelling.

  • July 8-9: Return to the U.S. via flights from Lilongwe, Malawi (LLW).

Cost:

$4,895 per person, excluding airfare. Deposit of $1,290 due by January 12, 2025.

Optional Add-Ons:

  • Participants can choose to skip the Malawi portion and return home after Kilimanjaro, shortening the trip to 15 days.

  • Option to add extra days at Child Legacy for $125 per day.

Significance:

The trip emphasizes a higher purpose: combining adventure with sustainability by supporting Child Legacy’s Clean Water Climb initiative. Participants will make a tangible impact on Malawi’s clean water access while experiencing the beauty of Africa.
