In Memory of Reese
In Memory of Reese Mitchell...
Reese's Passing On – While I was in Africa last month a good friend of mine and the Clean Water Climb, Reese Mitchell, lost his ~4 year battle with cancer. Many of you who worked at Southwestern Energy where Reese and I first met may remember his role there as our drilling manager.
Reese's Destination – "Because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in His presence. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose hope. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (Paul writing to the church he planted in Corinth, Greece nearly 2000 years ago. ...2nd Corinthians 4:14-18)
**To be sure of your final destination just tell Jesus today you 1) believe in Him, 2) receive Him as your Savior, and 3) commit to loving, following, and obeying Him.**
Reese's Legacy – Those of you who have given to the Clean Water Climb know that I always talk about bringing clean water and Living Water through Child Legacy's ministry that the Clean Water Climb supports. I appreciate all my supporters - it doesn't matter how much you give, but the fact that you are bringing hope for today and hope for eternity means so much to me and of course to the people of Malawi who most of us will never meet this side of heaven. Reese, in eternity, will be meeting those people he brought hope to during their time on this side. That's a legacy.
Reese's Inspiration – It was fortunate Reese and I lived in the same community. After his cancer diagnosis, whenever I would meet with Reese to give him a little gift of appreciation for his support he was the most upbeat, positive, knew-where-he-was-going-after-leaving-here person you would ever hope to meet! He inspired me every time we had our little get-togethers! He was a pillar of faith and hope like I want to be someday!
Reese's Memorial Service – Below is Reese's obituary. In it you will read that there will be a memorial service starting at 10am on Saturday, August 10th at Faith Bible Church in The Woodlands. Also, you will read that in lieu of flowers, Reese wanted people to give to the Clean Water Climb, so I knew I should pass his wish on to everyone who might have known him.
Reese's Memory Banner / Ashes –
At the end of this month I will return to Kilimanjaro and Malawi with our second Kilimanjaro Clean Water Climb Team. In memory of and in honor of Reese, I will be taking the photo banner below of him and some of his ashes to the top of Kilimanjaro. I will do the same in November to Everest Base Camp, Nepal and in January to Patagonia, Argentina. I will be adding all of the names of those who wish to give in Reese's memory to the banner at the end of these 3 treks and give to his wife Joy. If you give, be sure to include in the comments that your gift is in Reese's memory. Thank you for considering!
Reese's Memory Gifts Matched –
All gifts made in Reese's memory will be matched $1 for $1 until a May 1st $100,000 matching challenge goal has been met or December 31, whichever comes first. $67,363 has been received to date! Thank you and all glory to God!
Be sure to comment that your gift is in Reese's memory.
