World Water Day 2024

First Day of Spring = World Water Day!
(3/22/2024)

World Water Day –

I had never put 2 and 2 together before, but the first day of spring (for the Northern Hemisphere) is also World Water Day, designated as so in 1993 by The United Nations. It is a day to remind us that not everyone has access to clean, safe drinking water.

Celebrate! –

Even though the world's population grew from 6.144 Billion to 8.020 Billion from 2000 to 2024, the number of people lacking access to at least basic drinking water services during the same time period actually decreased from 1.2 Billion to 703 Million according to data.unicef.org!! Wow!! That's impressive!! Doing the math reveals that 19.5% of the world's population did not have access to clean water in 2000, but today only 8.8% of the world's population lacks clean water on demand!

You, and thousands of others like you, are making a difference through many organizations like Child Legacy International and Clean Water Climb, Inc!

Remaining Work –

So, there is still work to be done worldwide and specifically Malawi. Unicef data suggests that only 25% of Malawi has safely managed water services. As most of you know Child Legacy International (CLI) and Clean Water Climb Inc are in partnership focusing on bringing clean water to as many villages, schools, trading centers, health clinics, mosques, and churches as as possible in rural Malawi. Clean Water Climb Inc raises the money and Child Legacy repairs the broken water wells. CWC Inc currently raises the funds through Clean Water Climb hiking events all over the world (message me if you want to join one)!

14th Year –

This will be the 14th year to climb mountains and trek trails for clean water since we started the first CWC in 2011 called the Mt. Kilimanjaro Clean Water Climb! We have since expanded to trekking in a total of 4 continents: Africa, Asia, N. America, and S. America. We hope to add Europe this year or next and then Oceania (Australia and New Zealand) the following year.

Total Impact to Date –

From 2011 to present all Clean Water Climbs have raised $4.4 Million resulting in the repair of 3750 wells benefiting over 6.8 Million Malawians with clean, safe drinking water!! Here is the latest map of Malawi showing all the work CLI has accomplished since they started in 2008, 3 years before God delivered the CWC idea to me on a plane 35,000' over Africa in 2010!

My 2024 Goal for Child Legacy –

This year I have two Kilimanjaro treks (my 17th & 18th) and one Everest Base Camp trek (my 5th) to raise money for the work that needs to continue in Malawi! My 2024 goal is $225,000. I am currently at $20,676 or 9.2% of my goal - a bit behind, but I am trusting God, through your faithfulness and generosity, that I will make my goal by 12/31/24! Please read my updated bio and consider making a contribution through my link: http://www.cleanwaterclimb.org/Mike-Navolio. If you are considering a donation, but would prefer to send a check, please make out to Clean Water Climb, Inc and send to Clean Water Climb, Inc at 10 Morning Arbor Place, The Woodlands, TX 77381!

Dancing and Singing –

Neither do I dance nor do I sing when I turn the faucet on when I brush my teeth, but I do keep it off until it's time to rinse! Here are a few examples of repairs I have been to. Not only hear, but feel, the joy that your generosity brings! Click on each image for a short video from 3 of the 85 well repairs I have been to in Malawi...

God Bless You and Thank You!
